This is Pheobe. She is a 1959 Austin A135 Princess, bodywork by VanDenPlas of London.
Built on a full chassis with an ash framed aluminium body.
Powered by the 4 litre Austin straight six engine.
Pheobe was found in a field in Liverpool in 2005, a non runner and looking a little beyond repair.
Since that time we have spent a lot time and effort on her.
Having a full service and engine tune to find her main problem was fuel pump, point's condenser timing frozen gear box, overheating problems, water pump failure, and so much more.
She has also benefitted from a full brake overhaul, new water pump, distributor, carburetter, master cylinder, new radiator, wiring, replacement steps, four new tyres.
She received a bottom half re-spray in 2006, and will be having a full re-spray in 2009 where all her chrome work will be assessed and replaced where needed.
As should be expected, routine maintenance is an on going weekly occurrence with these vehicles to ensure reliability and safety.
Internally she is fitted with cream upholstery with black piping, comprising of a rear bench seat, adequate for 3 people, or 2 if a large dress is being worn, on top of this there are a further two fold down seats, making seating capacity in the rear to five adults.
Although registered as a 9 seat vehicle, we feel 5 is adequate and we DO NOT overload our vehicles.
